Brooks Office Interiors recognizes that many of our clients are carrying out their building projects and office renovations in accordance with a green building rating system such as LEEDÓ. While office furniture is only a small part of a larger project we are happy to work with you to ensure that our products support and advance your institution’s sustainability goals. We have worked with the following Green Building Rating Systems, and are happy to address any other concerns or requirements you may have.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
LEEDÓ is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building performs across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBCÓ), LEEDÓ provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
If your institution is applying for LEEDÓ certification we can work with you to make sure that your office furniture is eligible. The specific requirements are slightly different for each of the rating systems, however we can supply office furniture systems that meet the requirements for certification under LEEDÓ New Construction, Existing Building or Commercial Interiors. BOI can help you achieve points under:
- Construction Waste Management
We reuse all of our packaging materials and will take them with us once your furniture systems have been installed. This helps reduce the amount of waste materials that are disposed of during construction and can be counted toward waste diversion credits.
- Materials Reuse: Non-Structural
The intent of this credit is to reuse existing materials such as furniture rather than purchase new. Our Used furniture lines are all eligible for this credit; our Refurbishment services can also be included for LEEDÓ points.
- Recycled Content
LEEDÓ specifically defines recycled materials as those that have been processed and remanufactured into a new product. Our Used furniture lines cannot be included under this credit; however if purchasing New or Refurbished furniture systems we have a large selection of recycled fabrics and materials to choose from that are eligible. Please ask us for more information.
- Regional Materials
This credit rewards organizations that locally source materials to reduce on the pollution caused by transportation. Since BOI is a local company based in the heart of the Twin Cities we can offer a wide selection of used furniture from within the metro area. Most of our Used furniture lines do count as Regional Materials, as well as some of our New furniture systems.
- Other Possible Credits:
In addition to the LEEDÓ categories listed above the wide selection of lighting systems, customizable heights and paneling options that we offer can help a project achieve points under the Controllability of Systems and Daylight & Views categories. Buildings, Benchmarks and Beyond (B3)
B3 is a Sustainable Building Guideline designed specifically for Minnesota and is administered by the Center for Sustainable Building Research at the University of MN Twin Cities. These guidelines are designed to be compatible with national guidelines such as LEEDÓ while maintaining regional values, priorities and requirements. In addition to the LEEDÓ categories for Materials Reuse, Recycled Materials and Regional Materials the B3 guidelines also reward products that are recyclable – meaning that they can be recycled at the end of their useful lifespan. Our reusable packaging and shipping materials also prevent unnecessary waste. Please contact us if your building project is working with the B3 guidelines.
